Traditionally since the 1970s the Company organised a grand annual event, including presentations and a dinner every 6th December, which marks the anniversary of the founding of the Company at the Corinthia Palace Hotel.
Last year the activity had to be cancelled due to restrictions and controls related to the COVID-19 pandemic, but earlier this year it was decided to hold four separate events to comply with the regulations set out by the health authorities.
These events mirror Corinthia’s deep appreciation of all staff who have chosen to remain in service for many years, sometimes also surmounting obstacles which others may have felt too onerous to experience.

The organisation retained a homely atmosphere in spite of the rigorous distancing, limited numbers of attendees per event, and the numerous other safeguards and declarations which were necessary.
The first event was held on 29 November at the Petit Marquee at MFCC, which, apart from guests, involved the participation of 45 colleagues from MFCC, Corinthia Caterers, Catermax, Costa Coffee, Swan Laundry and Danish Bakery. These included three employees with over 30 years’ service: Ms Desiree Sammut from Corinthia Caterers, Mr Kenneth Agius, and Ms Marlene Scerri from Swan Laundry.

Corinthia St George’s Bay was the venue for the second event which took place on 30 November, involving 41 colleagues from Corinthia St George’s Bay, Radisson Blue and Marina Hotel. Two colleagues were honoured for service above 30 years: Mr Oreste Micallef with 35 years, and Mr Alexander Grech with 40 years.
On 6December, the anniversary of the Company, Mr Alfred Pisani, Chairman, hosted the event in the Corinthia Ballroom at Corinthia Palace Hotel for 41 colleagues from QP, CHL, Corinthia Palace Hotel and Corporate Office. These included two 30-year awardees, Mr Paul Pisani and Mr Raymond Farrugia and two 40-year awardees from Corporate Office, Mr Joseph Fenech and Mr Charles Sammut.

The final event took place on 7 December at Radisson Golden Sands where 25 colleagues were honoured for their service. Two colleagues, Mr Edmund Theuma and Mr Stephen Borg were 30-year awardees.

Apart from a long service certificate, all awardees were presented with a hand-crafted Mdina Glass memento.
These are moments when colleagues overcome the coldness of current protocol distance and feel the warmth of their workmates by sharing a common achievement.
