Corinthia is known for offering a helping hand when and where needed. Its personnel have this sentiment ingrained in them and are very sensitive to uplifting the lives of others, which is an essential requisite of hospitality.
Mr Carl Galea, General Manager of Radisson Blu St Julian’s, which is unfortunately currently closed due to the COVID situation, noticed that Selmun Family Park in Mellieha needed some tender loving care. Mellieha happens to be also the locality which hosts another Corinthia Group owned hotel, the Radisson Blu Resort & Spa Golden Sands. The Group is also the owner of the Hal Ferh site in Mellieha.
Insider plus contacted the local Mayor of Mellieha, Mr. Dario Vella, who was thrilled with the work being done. “I was greatly surprised and thankful when Corinthia offered to help this locality. The Selmun Family Park is a haven for members of the family to engage themselves in play, sports and even just meet in the fresh air and enjoy each other’s company. It’s literally a place for all ages.”

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility activities, Radisson Blu St Julian’s quickly gathered a team of at least ten persons. Their mission was to smoothen and paint or varnish the fencing, benches, tables and other wooden items in the park and thus grant a facelift to the place and entice more persons to visit and relax there.
The personnel volunteers come from all grades: managerial, heads of department, clerks…in other words a good cross-section. The initial problem was that none of them really knew the tricks of the trade, but where there is a will, there is a way. Quickly, a professional carpenter was roped in to train and guide the team and in no time, work started with an enthusiastic tempo.

Corinthia Group intends to continue doing voluntary work including a number of cleaning up campaigns in this area and other localities in Malta, with the aim of helping to uplift the various localities concerned.
Well done!
